Lakota YouthStay is a program of the West Medford Community Center with a mission of building authentic, mutually fulfilling and sustainable friendships between Native American youth from the Pine Ridge reservation in South Dakota and youth/adults in the greater Medford community.

Lakota YouthStay is the dream child of 2 Medford residents who began volunteering on the Pine Ridge reservation in 2012 and recognized an opportunity to enrich the lives of both Lakota youth and the Medford community by bringing the two groups together.

The Lakota YouthStay is an enriched 10-day homestay (2 travel days; 8 days in greater Medford) program with Native youth and local host families engaged in a variety of shared activities of interest designed to foster exploration and discovery, inspire hope and create greater cultural understanding and awareness.
